“Isle of Skye” was originally called “Ode to Skye” and was composed for my daughter Skye. I had been working on a piece of music and was actually recording and I saw that Skye was calling. I always stop what I’m doing when my children call. We had a nice conversation, and when I went back to the piece I was working on, I couldn’t get back into it. Instead of getting frustrated, I ditched what I was working on and came up with a completely new piece. I then started thinking about Skye’s name and the way it is spelled and was thinking how great it would be to take a trip with Skye to the Isle of Skye. The name for the composition became “Isle of Skye”.
